• Chessington Zoo Calls In Annabel Karmel to help feed fussy Lemur

Annabel Karmel has designed a special meal for Chessington Zoo’s five month old lemur, Smeagol, who refuses to eat apples. The Rudolph Fruit Salad made from apples, cranberries and raisins is a special festive treat for the adorable ring tailed lemur.

Annabel adapted her festive favourite, Rudolph the Red Nosed Baked Potato recipe so that it included some of Smeagol’s favourite foods, and disguised the dreaded apple!

Will Elgar, Head of Animal Behaviour at Chessington World of Adventures, says: “Smeagol has always been a fussy eater. He went straight for the cranberry but it wasn’t long before he was tucking into the apple!”

Annabel comments; “It’s been a pleasure to work with Chessington. It just goes to show that the way you present food to children, or a fussy lemur, makes a big difference to whether they eat it or not.”

Annabel is very passionate about improving the quality of food for children at family attractions, pubs and restaurants. Healthy meals can be delicious too. Guests visiting Chessington World of Adventures can try Annabel’s children’s menu at the Greedy Goblin restaurant.

The Rudolph fruit salad has been created especially for the ring tailed lemur, but you can find a range of Annabel Karmel’s recipes for your children at www.annabelkarmel.com

Chessington Zoo is open 10am to 3pm everyday from 12 December 2009 to 3 January 2010 (excluding Christmas Day). For more information please visit www.chessington.com
